"Resilience from ISSB rejection": My Experience and what I've learned

ISSB (Inter Services Selection Board) is a selection process for candidates who want to join the armed forces of Bangladesh. The selection process is designed to assess the candidate's physical fitness, cognitive abilities, emotional stability, and leadership potential. Overall, ISSB is important  as it plays a key role in the recruitment and selection of competent officers who will serve and lead in the armed forces. The institution helps to ensure that the military is staffed with individuals who possess the necessary qualities and potential to defend the country's national security.

There are several stages of this selection process. the selection process continues over the year through two circular. It consists of various stages, including intelligence tests, physical tests, group discussions, psychological tests, and gto and dp interviews. in every step the candidates are being evaluated. Only a selected few individuals are chosen after the difficult selection process at the ISSB. Success in the ISSB screening depends on a number of criteria. Physical stamina,  emotional composure, and leadership abilities are some of these traits. The applicant must be in good physical condition to withstand the demanding training and military life. To withstand the stress and pressure of military life, the candidate should be emotionally stable and cognitively flexible.

Since childhood I've always wanted to join the military. I dont know  from where this passion came from but this  particular job is very special to me. I had been  preparing for issb and  I had put in countless hours of physical and mental training preparing myself for the challenges of the selection process. But end of the day I still got rejected. But this four days gave me a lot of memories as well as lessons. We were divided into 8 groups each consisted of 8-9 members. We did all the tasks together, shared our stories, sang songs together and many more. Although after the rejection, I felt like I had failed and didn't know what to do next. All of my hard work and dedication seemed to have been for nothing. However, as time went on, I began to realize that rejection from ISSB was not the end of the world. Instead, it was an opportunity for me to grow and learn from my experiences.I started reflecting on my strengths and weaknesses and my career goals. Through  self-reflection, I began to understand myself better  gained clarity on what I really wanted out of life.In addition, the process of getting ready for the ISSB had given me invaluable lessons in self-discipline and determination. I have learnt how to push myself over my comfort zone and how to maintain my resolve to achieve my objectives. These life lessons weren't just for the military; I can use them in every aspect of my life.
Although the ISSB rejection was difficult for me to accept at the time, it ultimately helped me to realize  that life is more complex than pursuing a single objective. It helped me understand myself and my goals better. I learned that rejection could be a catalyst for growth and that sometimes, the best things in life come from unexpected places.

In conclusion, the significance of ISSB is immense as it plays a crucial role in the recruitment and selection of qualified officers for commission in Bangladesh's armed services. ISSB supports fairness and transparency in the recruitment process, which eventually aids in maintaining the standard of the armed forces. The ISSB contributes to ensuring that the armed forces are manned by people who are capable of protecting the security and interests of the country through its  rigorous selection procedure.
